POLI 100E, Interest Group Politics: Topic 1, Why are Interest Groups Important?

Drawing the Line Between an Interest Group and a Political Party:
Economic Interest Groups
- Shared Concern: Perceived Economic or Physical Needs;
e.g., jobs, health care, protection of investments, etc.
(The most Common and Durable Source of Factions)
- Political Preferences with Respect to Economic Issues,
at least since the end of the Second World War, have not
been, relatively speaking, intensely held. Economic
Growth made compromise possible. This Appears to be
Changing.
